I have spent the last 48 hours on Mexico's south coast, right on the Pacific Ocean. It's absolutely stunning here and there is so much to do. My hostel is more of a party hostel, full of young people and surfers come for a holiday. There is a lovely cooling pool (it's very hot here!) and a garden area for relaxing.

The main beach, Zicatela, is long and perfect for surfing. The waves are strong and loud. It's a beautiful beach with some volcanic sand (black sand). There are other beaches nearby but I've not explored them due to time constraints.

Last night I went swimming in nearby Lake Manialtepec that contains luminescent plankton. I went at night when it was completely dark. The plankton cannot be seen unless the 25°C water is disturbed, at which point they glitter and shimmer like diamonds in the water. If you move the water gently they look like little shining stars, if you move it vigorously all the water around you becomes a light shade of glowing blue. We swam under a giant black tarpaulin tent on the lake surface to be able to enjoy in complete blackness. Obviously I was not able to take any photos but I've tried to find professional ones on the Internet that are as close as possible to what I genuinely saw.

Upon searching for these photos I also found the following news articles...! Tabloid journalism at its best but wondering that there's no smoke without fire! The good news is that I didnt see any crocodiles!

This morning I went on a dolphin boat tour. We were on the boat for some hours and I was so worried of throwing up such was my seasickness! We finally found the dolphins, swimming in the wild, jumping up and around the boat. There were at least 1000 there, according to the guide. We were then given life jackets and masks and snorkels so we could join the dolphins in the water. Watching them swim some 5ft away from me underwater was breathtaking. I was able to take many videos whilst on the boat, some of the best will be posted at my next location (San Cristobal de las Casas) where hopefully the WiFi will be stronger.
